Child Services
Children, like adults, can experience challenging emotions, difficult behaviors, and unhealthy relationships. However, their limited life experience and coping skills often make it harder for them to navigate these struggles. Addressing these issues during your child’s formative years can create a strong foundation for a healthier and more resilient future.
Before any clinical intervention, building trust and rapport with your child is my top priority. I tailor my approach to meet the unique needs of each child, focusing on their development, personality, culture, and family environment. By addressing emotional challenges within this context, children can better understand their strengths and develop healthier ways to cope with stress, express emotions, and build relationships.
Teen-Adolescent Services
Adolescence is a pivotal time filled with emotional, social, and developmental challenges. Teens often face stressors like trauma, identity exploration, and peer pressure, yet may lack the tools to effectively process and express their feelings. My goal is to provide a safe, collaborative space where teens feel empowered to navigate these complexities.
My therapeutic approach with teens often incorporates cognitive-behavioral strategies to enhance self-control, improve social skills, and build emotional awareness. I firmly believe that every teen is the expert on their own experience. By placing your teen in the “driver’s seat,” therapy becomes a collaborative journey where they feel heard and valued.
Specializing in teen trauma, I’ve learned how stressors during adolescence can shape behaviors and beliefs into adulthood. Shame and guilt often silence teens, leaving parents unaware of the extent of their struggles. In therapy, I provide psychoeducation about trauma responses, support healing at the root of the problem, and equip teens with specific skills to minimize maladaptive behaviors and beliefs.
By understanding the whole teen—their development, personality, culture, and environment—within the context of the family, I help teens uncover their strengths, work through challenges, and build the resilience needed for a healthier future.
Parental-Child Work
Parenting can be one of the most rewarding yet challenging experiences. When children or teens face emotional or behavioral difficulties, it can deeply impact family dynamics. I offer Parental-Child Work to bridge gaps in communication, strengthen relationships, and provide parents with tools to support their child’s growth and well-being.
In this collaborative process, we focus on:
Improved Communication: Helping parents and children express their thoughts and feelings more openly and effectively.
Strengthening Bonds: Rebuilding trust and connection in strained relationships.
Parenting Strategies: Providing tailored techniques to navigate challenges like defiance, anxiety, or emotional outbursts.
Understanding Trauma: Educating parents on how past or present stressors may affect their child’s behavior and emotional state.
I approach Parental-Child Work with empathy and a nonjudgmental perspective, recognizing that every family is unique. Together, we create a supportive environment where both parent and child feel heard, understood, and equipped to move forward with confidence.
