Marvin is a Doctoral Student at the NYU Silver School of Social Work and a Psychotherapist in private practice. He also works as a School Response Clinician – Consultant with the NYC Department of Education, supporting schools in addressing complex student needs.
Marvin’s journey into social work began as a Teach For America corps member, where he discovered a passion for building meaningful relationships and fostering emotional well-being. He earned his Master of Social Work degree from NYU in 2016, focusing on trauma-informed care and evidence-based therapeutic modalities.
With experience at Harlem Children’s Zone and Brooklyn Center for Psychotherapy, Marvin developed expertise in working with children and adolescents facing trauma, as well as adults managing mood and personality disorders. He has trained extensively in various therapeutic approaches, including CBT, DBT, Gestalt Therapy, and Positive Psychology.
Marvin’s research explores psychedelic-assisted therapy, harm reduction, and overdose prevention, reflecting his commitment to innovative, evidence-based care. He integrates storytelling and social justice into his work, guided by Janet Mock’s belief that:
